Maybe the trim is peeling again, or the siding has faded to a colour you never picked. Maybe the front door has seen better days, you're getting ready to list, or a new roof or new windows have you rethinking the whole colour scheme. Whatever brought you here, spring and summer fill up fast in Waterloo Region, so most people call us between February and April to get a spot in the May-to-October season.

What we paint on the outside of your house

  • Siding

    Wood, vinyl, stucco and Hardie board, sprayed and back-rolled for an even coat. On vinyl we only use colours rated for vinyl.

  • Trim and fascia

    Hand-brushed for clean lines around the windows, at the corners and along the roofline.

  • Soffits

    The underside of the roof overhang, scraped, primed where the wood is bare and given two finish coats.

  • Front doors and garage doors

    The first thing people see from the street, prepped and given two finish coats like the rest of the house.

  • Porches, railings and shutters

    Loose paint scraped off, edges sanded smooth, joints caulked, then painted to suit your new colour scheme.

Wash, scrape, prime, then paint

Most of the work happens before the first coat. Here's what your house goes through, and why each step is there.

Walk-around and written quote

Marcus or Jordan walks every side of the house with you, measures, and notes what needs repair. Your itemised quote arrives by email within 24 hours: every surface, the prep, the coats and the product.

Power wash and 48 hours to dry

We wash the whole house, then leave it at least 48 hours to dry before any primer goes on. On spray days, please move cars out of the driveway: overspray travels further than people think.

Scrape, sand, repair, primeYou approve

Everything loose comes off and the edges get sanded smooth. Soft wood gets replaced, and we show it to you first. Joints get caulked, and bare wood gets oil-based primer so the topcoat has something to grip.

Spray the siding, brush the trim

Siding is sprayed and back-rolled so you don't see lap marks from the street. Trim is brushed by hand for clean lines. We use Sherwin-Williams Duration and only paint at 10°C and up with no rain forecast.

Blue-tape walkthroughYou approve

On the last day you walk around the house with us and a roll of blue tape. Mark anything you're not happy with and we fix it before we leave. You keep the leftover paint, labelled by colour.

What people ask before we paint outside

What happens if it rains on our week?

We only paint at 10°C and up with no rain in the forecast, so the weather does move the schedule. We book in order of signed quotes, and your crew lead tells you the night before if anything changes. It's also why we won't promise a finish date on an exterior: the weather decides.

How long does it take to paint a house?

Most houses take 3 to 6 working days, depending on the size of the house and how much prep the surfaces need. Rain or cold can push days back, and if that happens you'll hear from your crew lead the night before.

Do I need to be home while you work?

We'd like you there for the walk-around at the estimate and for the blue-tape walkthrough on the last day. In between, your crew lead texts you a photo every evening, and stops to show you anything that would change the price before doing it.

Will you fix rotten boards or just paint over them?

We replace soft wood. If we find some, say behind a gutter, we stop and show you before we do anything that changes the price. Nothing extra happens without your say-so.

Is there anything I need to do before you start?

Pick your colours before we start, because changing one halfway means another coat and another day. On spray days, move your cars out of the driveway: overspray travels further than people think. And keep pets away from where we're working so nobody walks through wet paint.

How long will the colour last?

We use Sherwin-Williams Duration because it stays flexible as wood moves through our winters and holds its colour in full sun. Your exterior is covered by a written 6-year warranty, and it transfers if you sell the house.

Why doesn't your quote match another painter's?

Often it's the prep. The usual shortcut is painting over chalky or loose paint because it's faster. It looks great for a summer and then lifts. Our quote lists every surface, the prep, the number of coats and the product, so you can compare it line by line.

Will you paint our brick?

We'll talk it through first. If your brick has never been painted, we only paint it once you're certain, because once it's painted you're committed for life.

Can you paint vinyl siding?

Yes. On vinyl we only use colours rated for vinyl, so the siding doesn't warp in the sun. We'll go over your colour choice at the estimate visit.

When should I call to book an exterior?

The painting season here runs May to October, and spring and summer fill up fast, so most people call between February and April. We book in order of signed quotes, so the sooner your quote is signed, the sooner you're on the schedule.
